The
“magnetic hill” is located on the Leh-Kargil-Baltik national highway, about 30
km from Leh, at a height of 14,000 feet above sea level. On its eastern side,
flows the Sindhu, which originates in Tibet and goes to the Pakistan.
This
hill in Ladakh region of Kashmir which can pull a car parked in neutral with
the speed of 20km per hour. Apparently this happens because the hill possesses
magnetic power. Its not just cars but planes that too are attracted by the
Magnetic Hills. This is the reason why Indian Air Force has asked pilots to
avoid flying over the Magnetic hills. To visit the Magnetic hill, you will have
to travel Leh. From Leh, you can hire a local guide who would take you to
Magnetic hill. There isn't much to see there. Only a sign board has been placed
by officials to indicate Magnetic Hill.
Instructions

With caution, position your car at a "bottom" of the
hill and put your car in neutral. Take your foot off the brake and you will
experience the thrill of your car not only climbing the hill by itself, but
gaining speed as it goes. Look out for other traffic.
After trying this natural phenomenon you may question it's causes.
Well, I don't want to disappoint you, but whether it is called a Magnetic Hill,
Gravity Hill, Mystery Hill or Electric Brae it is an optical illusion. It has
nothing to do with magnetic fields, electricity or unknown forces working along
mysterious lines.
The
Indian Army maintains a sikh Gurudwara near the hill where Guru Nanak Dev, the
first of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism, meditated in the 15th century. Due to both
the Gurudwara and the gravity hill, the area has become a popular sightseeing
destination.
